Program Description
COLONIAL LIFE IN AMERICA: This program is designed to present the students with an overview of 18th century life through music, lectures, and demonstrations. Specific learning stations present such topics as the militia, the British army, women and home life, military music, etc. The program attempts to involve students in activities which will help them to see the people of the 18th century as real persons rather than names or facts in a textbook. Living history re-enactors are the presenters and all material is carefully researched and conforms to high standards of authenticity.
CIVIL WAR MUSIC: This program is designed to enhance the students’ knowledge and interest in history through the music and songs of the period. Demonstrations and exhibits are used to illustrate and apply the material presented in the songs. Students are encouraged to participate in singing and will learn at least one period song. Presenters are living history re-enactors and all material, uniforms, and music are documented with a high standard of authenticity.
