Program Description
Day in Clay is a diverse multi-cultural ceramic arts program for K–12 (incl. Staff Development & Special needs) for over 25 years.
Virtual and in School Day in Clay are highly interactive. It provides the advanced techniques, cultural history and joins hands-on projects and studio-based demonstrations into the classroom for a true artist in residence experience and a real taste of the creative process.
The teaching mirrors my college-level teaching, engaging, challenging, memorable educational. challenging, and exciting.
Students create /explore masks, vessels, tile murals that are culturally inspired by Native/Latin American, Asian, African, and Greek ceramic design.
Students explore and create 3D ceramic art through the identification of global patterns and symbols, form & function, and the richness of cultural diversity.
Exploring designs and the creative process is key in understanding how each culture tells their unique story through 3-d art.
Students become involved in the process of working with clay, and discover the relationship between art, science, and society, learning advanced techniques and the science behind glazing, painting, and firing.
They become part of the design process, engaging the artist or may participate in group projects such as tile-based murals and multicultural fundraisers.
Faculty may select themes from curricula in art, social studies, science, and music—or customize a program tailored for your curriculum. Day in Clay meets all arts standards.
References from participating schools are readily provided to affirm our results on exceeding expectations.
