One of America’s most beloved storytellers, Diane is known for transforming into the characters in her tales bringing each story to vibrant life. Her engaging performances include elements of theatre, movement, and song, while her warmth and invitation to participate brings students and today’s family audiences into the heart of the story. A featured storyteller on National Public Radio and at the International Storytelling Center Diane has also won the national ORACLE award for Storytelling Excellence in the Northeast as well as five Storytelling World awards and a Parent’s Choice Silver. She is the author of “A Fire in My Heart,” the first collection of Kurdish folktales to be published in English.

Program Description
Entertaining Performances that Enhance Elementary School Curriculum
Diane has a rich variety of nature-based, seasonal, and cultural programs that enrich language arts, science, and social studies curriculum.
For English Core Curriculum: Fairytales, folk legends, and myths enhance encourage imaginative thinking, expression as well as intercultural awareness. Companion workshops in the storytelling art have students on their feet and re-telling a folktale by the end of one session.
Science and Nature based stories impart lessons about the diversity and value of life, and feature engaging characters such as a fast-talking earthworm, a young boy who saves the wetlands near his home, and Maiasaura, the first dinosaur proven to care for her young.
Seasonal tales help younger audiences discover the wonders of an ever-shifting natural world. Each program is interactive, informative, and entertaining, all the while contributing to meaningful learning.
