Program Description
Voice of the Mountains.-a 50 minute hour performance; Eileen Egan Mack portrays Jeanne Robert Foster during the 1910’s. Jeanne presents herself in period costume and addresses the audience, telling stories from her life based on her writings in Adirondack Portraits: a Piece of Time and Neighbors of Yesterday. She sings a repertoire of song songs that complement the weaving of the stories.
*When in performance at schools, students are engaged in several interactive events to make them a part of the story’s telling.
*She has taken this show around the Adirondacks and the Capital District, and to a theatre in Austin, Texas. It has been performed at schools in Albany, Delmar, North Creek, Newcomb, and at colleges, town halls, and libraries throughout NY including the Rensselaerville Institute, Plattsburgh State University, North Country Community College, the Kent-Delord House Museum, Paul Smiths’ College, the Miner Institute, Blue Mountain Lake Center for the Arts, among others.
*During workshops/residencies the work can be focused on developing writing of poetry, particularly dramatic monologues and blank verse, improving oral communication skills through theatre games and voice work, and by preparing and performing readers theatre presentations.
She has been a presenter at the Adirondack Experience, the Museum at Blue Mt. Lake TaCO and Home School days to promote environmental awareness at a personal level.
