Program Description

90-minute school cruises depart at 10 or 10:30 a.m.

Erie Canal Cruises offers 90-minute fun-filled educational field trips on the historic Erie Canal.  Students will not only learn about the Canals importance in American history but will also travel through Lock 18, 100 years old and still operating perfectly with all original equipment.  The vessel will first be lowered and then raised 20 feet, an experience not soon forgotten.  The trip incorporates NY State curriculum standards and each historic narration is grade level specific.

Students and parents alike will enjoy the cruise while learning about the Canals past history as well as its use today.  The cruise follows along today’s newly expanded Bike Path and passengers might catch a glimpse of an American Bald Eagle, Heron or Kingfisher.  The Captain always keeps it interesting.
