Program Theme
Students create 3-D paper art for a mural that is displayed at the school. The natural science theme is based on one of Ms. Brickman’s picture books.
Program Description
Robin Brickman is the award-winning illustrator of “A Log’s Life,” “Leaflets Three, Let it Be,” “One Night In The Coral Sea,” “I Am An Artist” and other children’s picture books. These books are about the natural world and artistic creativity.

Robin’s hands-on workshops stress the connection between art and natural science. She begins with a brief PowerPoint presentation showing the books she has illustrated and how she creates her 3-D paintings. Students then get to work with paper, crayons, and scissors making their own contributions to a habitat mural. Robin assembles the hundreds of student-made creatures into the school’s mural and the entire community can enjoy it.
