Program Description

For 40 years, “Stand-up Chameleon” Jackson Gillman has been delighting audiences of all ages through his many talents as songsmith, movement artist and storyteller. Many of his educational Songs & Stories for a Small Planet reflect his background in ecology. He’s glad to tie into current curriculum with his wide-ranging repertoire. While show themes vary, they are all highly visual, energetic and interactive. Song, dance, mime, and/or sign language might be incorporated into his participatory theater – whatever works best to bring any audience along for a rollicking ride into his wildly imaginative worlds of creative adventure. School/family shows include: Riot in the Garden – fun-filled farm science; BUGS! – a laugh and learn low-life revue; Nature in Action, Story, and Song – a wild & crazy environmental romp; On a Wing and a Song – a birds-eye view of the seasons; Whales, Octopi & Sharks, Oh My! – marine science; A Family Cabaret – intergenerational laughter and love; Levity in Motion – mime, song & story for the young and young-at-heart; Dinosaur Daze – prehistoric comedy; Moon Crazy – lunar adventures; The Dancing Man – lively, interactive songs and stories to move and groove with; Harlequin and the Gift of Many Colors – and other stories of friendship (performed with sign language); The Magic of Rudyard Kipling: Just So – sprightly, faithful interpretations of these “best beloved” classics (dvd available). Halloween Silly Willies; Autumn Wonders; Holiday Huzzah!; Winter Wonders; Spring into Action – story and song-filled celebrations of the season.  Virtual programming is available, with live interaction and/or prerecorded segments.
