Program Description
Many years ago, Tom asked an audience of children, “How many people have ever sat in front of a piece of paper and not known what to write?” To his amazement, everyone raised a hand. Since then Tom has devoted much of his energy to researching, developing and improving strategies that will help all children feel comfortable with their writing. His approach is known as “Write Now!”
Along the way he has taught Writing Across the Curriculum to active teachers in the master’s program at Brooklyn College and offered credited seminars to teachers and librarians nationally through B.E.R. – Bureau for Education and Research. A Parent’s Choice Award winning storyteller, educator, and creator and artistic director of PaintBox Theatre. Over his career, Tom has shared his tales, classroom workshops, residencies and family concerts with more than a million people throughout the United States and abroad. His venues have included The USS Constitution, The Kennedy Center, a one room school house in Ireland and The White House.
